Cointreau Citrus Series Corsican Pomelo

THE CORSICAN TERROIR IN A BOTTLE

Carole Quinton, Cointreau’s master distiller, sourced an exceptional pomelo from a single estate nestled amidst the unique terroir of the plains of Aléria in Northern Corsica, France. Sun-drenched and hand- picked at their peak ripe- ness, the Citrus paradisi pomelos are distilled fresh, according to our traditional methods to capture the unique expression of Corsican terroir and offer infinite mixing possibilities.

AN EXPLORATION OF THE WORLD OF CITRUS

In her relentless quest to explore the infinite world of citrus, Carole Quinton, Cointreau Master Distiller, selected a rich variety of samples. After hundreds of maceration and distillation tests, she discovered the ideal method for each type, unveiling their unique character. For this first opus, Carole has selected the Corsican Pomelo (Citrus Paradisi).

The results were pure alchemy, and Citrus Series Single Estate was born: a new collection exploring the incredible diversity of citrus fruits and their terroir, available exclusively for bartenders.

One citrus, one terroir, one estate in each opus.

It’s generally agreed that there are four pivotal elements that shape the essences of citrus flavours. These are climate, soil composition, topography, and cultivation knowhow. Each of these elements contributes to the citrus flavours (acidity, sweetness, and bitterness) and aromas production, shaping the fruits with a distinct profile.

An iconic example is the Mediterranean basin, which boasts exceptional citrus terroirs, where unique soils, abundant sunshine, mild winters, and centuries-old traditions converge to produce fruits of unique character.
