Is Cointreau mandatory for making a Margarita ?

To realise the original recipe of the Margarita Cocktail you need to use Cointreau l'Unique as it is one of the founding ingredients, it represents 30% of the recipe. You can use another triple-sec if you want but it will not taste as good as the original Margarira created by Margarte Sames in 1948.
