Transmission

Cointreau considers the transmission of its expertise and know-how as a core purpose and blends tradition with innovation every day. Our participation in the International Citrus Congress in Menton  and supervision of CIFRE theses exemplifies Cointreau’s commitment to advancing research through knowledge-sharing.

The Carré Cointreau showcases Cointreau’s commitment to knowledge-sharing, and visitors are invited to explore Cointreau’s unique heritage and history in this iconic setting. Through partnerships with bartending schools and support for young people at the Centre Pierre Cointreau, Cointreau is also training the up-coming generation. The mission’s significance has been recognised by the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label. French liqueurs, including Cointreau, are now listed as part of France’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, in recognition of the unique expertise and inter-generational traditional practices involved in their production.

Territorial Anchoring

Cointreau is committed to celebrating its territorial anchoring, guaranteeing that expertise is transmitted locally and fostering employee loyalty. With exclusively local production, Cointreau remains firmly rooted in the Angers region. More than ever, Cointreau plays a vital economic role here, acting as a responsible employer and supporting a range of social and cultural initiatives. The Qualité Tourisme label testifies to the exceptional quality of the visitor experience at Le Carré Cointreau. Remy Cointreau Group’s sites are also committed to encouraging sustainable mobi ity by offering incentives to employees who choose to cycle or carpool to work.

The 6th Generation of Cointreau

How does Maison Cointreau demonstrate its attachment to its home territory?
Our family’s roots in in the Anjou region go back to the 16th century. We started out as bakers, then moved into confectionery before switching to distilling in 1849. Although there is no real obligation for us to produce locally, we remain faithful to our Anjou origins, preserving a family tradition that is an essential part of our identity.

What concrete actions are you taking to strengthen your local anchoring?
We maintain 100% local production, supporting the regional economy by employing local talent and working with local suppliers. Through a range of economic and cultural initiatives, we promote local heritage and expertise, thereby actively contributing to the region’s energy.

What is the role of Le Carré Cointreau?
Le Carré Cointreau showcases our heritage and values. Open to the public, this hospitality area enables us to share our expertise and strengthen the links between our House, employees and visitors. It is a symbol of openness and transmission, as well as helping to raise the profile of our brand. We began opening the doors of our distillery to the public in 1920 - a highly avant-garde practice at the time - reflecting a pioneering commitment to transparency and respect for the consumer.

Why is territorial anchoring essential?
The distillery is a pillar of the social and economic fabric of the Angers area. By promoting the region, we are creating a virtuous circle in which our success also benefits the local community.
