Current Cointreau Noir is allergen-free, containing orange liqueur (79%) (water, sugar, orange peel distillate, alcohol, and caramel coloring) and Cognac (21%). It's free of nuts, milk, crustaceans, mollusks, fish, celery, mustard, and sesame seeds.

However, bottles produced before 2010 may contain allergens like nuts. If you have an older bottle, please contact us to verify its age and version for accurate allergen information.

If not opened and stored in a dark place at ambient temperature, the bottle might be kept for years. There is no expiration date thanks to the 40% alcohol contained in the liquid. Alcohol helps preserve.

We recommend consuming Cointreau within two years after opening the bottle, to be sure to enjoy the subtleties of its flavors to the fullest. However, there is no expiry date.

As Cointreau contains 40% of alcohol, it does not freeze in a regular freezer. However, under extreme conditions (below minus 17°C) it may change aspect.

Christmas boxes are produced in very few quantities, and in rare markets. As we speak today, more than 15 million of Cointreau’s bottles have been produced this year in Angers, the nest of Cointreau. Each is made with 80% of recycled glass and naked of any packaging. Given their niche production – less than 3% - the Christmas gift pack represents a very small part of our CO2 emission that we are fighting through various initiatives. Plastic usage: Reducing significantly our plastic footprint by replacing this material as much as possible.

You can use another triple-sec if you want but it will not taste as good as the original Margarita created by Margaret Sames in 1948.

The Original Margarita recipe : 
1 oz Cointreau
2 oz blanco tequila
1 oz fresh lime juice

1. Make a salt rim on your glass
2. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice
3. Shake vigorously
4. Strain into a Margarita glass
